Frequently Asked Questions

1.                  “Do I Have To Have Prior Gem Knowledge?”

One of the major attractions of our short gem courses and seminars is that no prior gem experience or knowledge is necessary to obtain maximum benefit.

Participation numbers per course are restricted in order that you gain the full benefit of Eric’s teaching and experience.

Participants are mostly those wishing to enter the gem and jewellery trade and those who have an intense enthusiasm for gems as an interest. Those with any amount of trade experience wishing to ‘brush-up’ their gem awareness also find our courses of immediate advantage.

2.     "How Do I Book A Place?"

Please contact us and we shall explain how to book.

3.                  “How Much Do Your Courses Cost?”

Our gem courses are short in duration, one, two or three days, so are appreciably less expensive than longer courses offered by other UK gemmological course providers.

For current course fees please see the relevant course web page

4.                  “When And Where Are Your Courses Held?”

Our short practical diamond grading and coloured stones courses are offered regularly in Hatton Garden. A number of courses are held in the City of London and in cities and towns throughout the UK

Please refer to our calendar for individual course dates and localities

5.                  “How Do I Benefit From Attending One Of Your Courses or Seminars?”

By attending our short courses and seminars you will gain the essential gem facts. Our courses add to your personal or professional development plan. Many attendees find the knowledge they gain helps them to buy and sell gems effectively. If you are in the gem and jewellery industry you will be better placed to answer customers’ enquiries regarding the quality and beauty of precious stones.

You will not only learn the technical basics of gem identification, quality and beauty but also understand the terminologies employed in the gem and jewellery industry.

See here for past attendees comments on our courses.

    6.    "What Other Courses Can I Take After Attending Yours?”

As part of your professional career development, you may be able to progress to other relevant courses provided by us or our administrators.

In addition, in London, the Holts Academy of JewelleryGIA and Gem-A offer gem courses, most are of a longer duration.

Please contact us on 07973 725 266 or ericemms@aol.com if you have any other questions.
