1. PRACTICAL DIAMOND GRADING COURSE
We offer regular practical diamond grading courses in Hatton Garden . This two-day course will be of interest to all who have an interest in the beauty and value of polished diamonds and want to learn more. You will answer these two fundamental questions: ‘Is it real?” and “How much is it worth?”
Please note this course does NOT cover the topic of rough (uncut) diamonds. If you are interested in learning about rough diamonds our Rough-to-Polished diamond course will be of interest.

2. COLOURED STONES COURSE
We offer regular practical coloured stones courses in Hatton Garden. This three-day course will be of interest to all who wish to learn more of the variety, beauty and value of precious stones. Two days are spent examining the different gem varieties and qualities in our teaching room in Hatton Garden and the third day is spent admiring the gem collections at the museums of South Kensington. Please note this is not a gem testing course. All our courses are popular and are limited to twelve in order to give maximum benefit to attendees. 3. ROUGH DIAMONDS TO POLISHED DIAMONDS COURSE

4. GEM VALUES AND QUALITY WORKSHOP
We have teamed up with Tracey Jukes of e-jewel, a UK-based coloured stone dealer, to offer the first workshop to provide current coloured stones values. For the first part of the workshop Eric Emms will lead you through the current state of natural and treated gems and how quality is judged. Tracey Jukes will look at current coloured stones prices and how demand/supply, gem treatments and Man-made stones affect wholesale prices. Please note this is not a gem testing course. Yo will handle many gem varieties and treatments. This workshop is popular and places are limited to six in order to give maximum benefit to attendees. 5. GEM INCLUSIONS MASTER CLASS
Please do not consider flaws in gems as being unattractive! They are inclusions that you should think of as birth marks telling us of the gem’s creation. They can be as compelling as the colour and sparkle of the gem!
Following requests from attendees of coloured stones courses, we are delighted to offer this one-day Master Class on gem inclusions.
Topics to be covered on the day:
Practical demonstration using 10x lens and gemmological microscope the inclusions seen in examples of:
* Diamond and its simulants
* Ruby
* Sapphire
* Emerald
* Garnet
* Topaz
* Tourmaline
You will have time to examine the inclusions of your own gem-set jewellery!

6. GEM AND JEWELLERY KNOWLEDGE WORKSHOP
Our new one day workshop: held in the heart of the UK jewellery industry in Hatton Garden, a day of handling gem-set jewellery, learning what to look for in quality and value in jewellery. Ask questions – learn from specialists. Bring your own pieces (maximum 3 items) and know more!
Who would benefit?
Consumers considering purchasing diamonds and gem-set jewels.
The day will cover the following topics:
* Diamonds: how quality and price are judged- size is not everything! Round and other shapes; modern and antique cuts.
* Coloured gems: overview of colour palate and gem varieties. There are more gems than ruby, sapphire and emerald! We shall discover how quality and value are determined.
* Hallmarks: what they mean.
* How jewels are valued: what to look for and methods to determine value.
These are hands-on sessions. Attendees will learn how to examine jewels with a jeweller’s lens and handle a variety of gemstones and jewellery in a secure, comfortable environment under the guidance of Eric Emms and Steven Jordan, who have been examining, handling, grading and valuing gems and jewellery for many decades.
